Soar the skies with the powerful P-51D Mustang
The P-51D Mustang which appeared in May 1944, came built with a laminar airfoil and undersurface to minimize air resistance, making it more aero dynamical. For its power, the P-51D packed a supercharged Packard Merlin V1650-7 engine. A teardrop type canopy provided excellent visibility for the pilot, and had six daunting 13.7mm guns at his disposal. Auxiliary drop tanks enabled the Mustang to achieve a continuous flight range up to 3700km, which allowed it to provide U.S. bombers effective protection against the German Me109 and Fw190 interceptors all the way to Germany.
About the Staff Car
When the U.S. formally entered WWII in 1941, its automobile industry was called upon by President Roosevelt to become the "Arsenal of Democracy." Detroit responded by halting new car development and changing its assembly lines to churn out tanks, planes, and other war equipment. The 4-door sedan selected for use as a military staff car was the last new car model available until the end of hostilities in 1945. It featured distinctive "suicide" rear doors, V8 engine, and had a fuel-fired heater in the passenger compartment.
