The F6F Hellcat was designed as a response to the Japanese Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighters. It was characterized by a solid construction, high firepower and ease of piloting which made it extremely effective in combat. This plane played a key role in the Battle of Midway, the Battle of Leyte and many other campaigns in the Pacific. It was one of the main factors in the dominance of American aviation over the Japanese. Now this Pacific legend will also be available in the COBI collection!
From 235 high-quality elements you can build a beautiful model of this iconic plane. The plane was made of blocks in navy blue, blue and white. This is exactly the paint job that the US Navy planes had! In addition the plane has a movable propeller and detachable landing gear. This model is perfect for all aviation fans and those interested in the Pacific War.
The F6F Hellcat shot down more enemy aircraft than any other American fighter during World War II. With 5,156 confirmed kills, the Hellcat had a win-loss ratio of 19:1, the best of any fighter used in the conflict. After the end of World War II Hellcats were used by the U.S. Navy and other militaries around the world, including France and Uruguay. They also served in the Korean War, primarily as trainers and in support roles. The Grumman F6F Hellcat remains one of the most acclaimed fighters of World War II, valued for its effectiveness, durability and ease of operation. It was a key factor in the success of Allied air operations in the Pacific and is considered one of the best fighters of its time.
